Rucker, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of excellence. Fort Rucker is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA FORM 5019, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program or a memorandum of understanding. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Duties

1 vacancy - AL - Ft. Rucker
Performs a variety of technical and administrative audiology duties within the Eye and Ear Clinic. Assists the audiologist with pure tone air & bone conduction testing, tympanometry to include reflexes, speech reception thresholds and discrimination, otoacoustic emissions testing, and SPRINT as appropriate. Performs listening checks of hearing aids and troubleshoots problems related to malfunctioning hearing aids. Performs cerumenectomy, irrigates patients ears and other procedures as required. Responsible for packaging and forwarding of hearing aids that can’t be repaired locally. Greets walk-in patients and updates medical records. Maintains patient logs and schedules appointments to see audiologist. Maintains and accounts for hearing-aid program supplies, equipment, and materials. Ensures all inspections are in compliance with the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), safety and security requirements.

General Schedule
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is, but not limited to (1)Knowledge of ear anatomy and physiology to perform safe procedures, recognizes abnormalities in structure and understands ears, eyes, nose and throat (EENT) relationships. (2) Knowledge of audiologic testing equipment and procedures for testing patients.(3) Must have the knowledge and skill to interpret results and pick up key indicators which would warrant additional diagnostic studies and/or referral to rule out such conditions as retrocochlear pathologies or a conductive component hearing loss.(4) Knowledge of hearing aid mechanisms and ability to test for minor mechanical failures, assess problem and make repairs or help arrange for repairs. (5) Knowledge and ability to counsel patients concerning test procedures and results and instruct them in treatment options. (6)Knowledge of profiling standards and regulations for Army and Air Force and ability to evaluate test data to determine if a profile is warranted and needs to be issued.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must attain and maintain certification as an Army Hearing Conservationist, and have the abilities to perform monitoring audiometry utilizing the Defense Occupational Environmental Health Registry System for Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC). One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.
GS-06 and above: One year of experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the next lower grade. Graduate education or an internship meets the experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 5 percent.
