About the Position: 
NDAA FY2010 requires the repeal of NSPS. The position(s) covered by this vacancy announcement is scheduled to transition from NSPS to GS or an applicable personnel system no later than January 1, 2012.
About the Position:RECRUITMENT/RELOCATION BONUS MAY BE OFFERED. PCS MAY BE AUTHORIZED.
Incumbent serves as Psychologist for the Community Based Primary Care Clinic. Makes mental health diagnosis in accordance with DSM-IV-TR criteria or other current, accepted standards. Provides individual & group therapy; maintains documentation in accordance with unit & hospital SOPs; current DoD, Army, Federal & state regulation; & professional ethics. Assesses & provides intervention for individuals & families undergoing unusual medically-related stresses including stress management, relaxation training, assertive/social skills training, smoking cessation, substance abuse identification & brief interventions, weight reduction training, & brief interventions for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic & post-deployment stress symptoms. Develops, implements, & evaluates professional development activities; coordinates interdepartmental in-service training.
Incumbent may be required to be on-call.

    Duties: Screens & interviews patients; performs bio-psychological social evaluations. Monitors & evaluates completeness of intake. Selects, approves, & documents treatment priorities through a treatment plan. Reviews level of care appropriateness. Conducts therapy & documents all treatment planning; provides advice & policy for case staffing. Evaluates overall effectiveness of therapeutic efforts & institutes changes as needed. Provides structure & procedures for organization of case staffing information. Oversees & interprets various tests; maintains, & secures test instruments. Evaluates diagnostic summaries. Establishes & executes performance initiatives through revision of clinical standards & procedures; performs program administrative duties, & QM/QA to meet JCAHO requirements, Monitors risk management & takes appropriate action. Develops, approves, & executes professional business plan. Conducts program evaluation. Directs budget priorities & manpower surveys; briefs reports.

  • BASIC REQUIREMENTS:1. Degree: Satisfactory completion of all requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. You must list your degree, concentration, institution, & month/year of achievement. Must have an internship that is APA accredited by regulation (DA Pam 611-21 and AR 40-68).
    2. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed as a Psychologist by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. You must list your licensure, license number, & the licensing body.
    3. Specialized Experience: Applicant must also possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, & abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position: Ability to maintain good working relations. Ability to analyze medical record data. Ability to research, analyze, interpret & apply rules, regulations, & procedures. Skill in multi-disciplinary group practice. Ability to identify problems & develop innovative solutions. Knowledge of risk assessment methods & techniques. Knowledge of quality control procedures, principles & practices. Knowledge of & ability to analyze & interpret psychological/clinical tests. Ability to train others. Expert knowledge of general & specific concepts, principles, procedures, & practices relating to psychological counseling; skill & ability sufficient to serve as a consultant, advisor, & resource person to other psychologists & staff members. Expert knowledge of psychodynamics, psychopathology, & therapeutic techniques to provide consultation & therapy to the most complex & difficult cases. Ability to analyze clinical assessments of patients sufficient to validate the appropriateness of care provided & attainment of stated objectives. Skill to prepare accurate written case documentation. Ability to present higher level command briefings, court testimonies, etc.
