Summary: The Food Security Director provides metric-based technical leadership to define and strengthen Pact’s involvement and in the food security sector. The position requires an ability to win new business in line with our strategic priorities. The Food Security Director will be responsible for working with a network of Pact’s technical and program staff to understand Pact’s unique approach to development and leverage this into a cohesive strategy which defines Pact’s role in the food security sector. The Food Security Director will be responsible for using this strategy to position Pact as a valuable contributor to Feed the Future objectives as well as to the goals of private sector partners. The Director will also be responsible for developing and monitoring project work plans and budgets to ensure adherence to best-practices and standard. Upon winning agreements and contracts s/he will develop a network of staff around the world that can provide technical assistance and quality oversight to relevant programs and contribute to technical design of proposals. The Director will also lead and facilitate change to ensure that Pact evolves and adapts its technical capabilities in step with the evolving development environments. The Director will represent Pact at technical meetings and forums with key donors.
This position is fully funded for one year and extension is contingent upon successful winning of food security related grants and contracts. The TD reports to the VP, Program Advancement
Specific Duties: • Lead the technical excellence of Pact in a Food Security, including developing an integrated approach. • Provide intellectual leadership to Pact by staying abreast of trends and research findings and disseminating them to country offices and relevant communities of practice • Play a representational role for Pact in relevant forums and working with field offices to increase their representation in global, regional, and local events • Provide technical assistance to field offices so that they better understand and are better able to meet industry standards and expectations of donors • Document and disseminate best practices internally • Play a key role in defining new business development by leading the technical design on related projects, ensuring that all relevant proposals are technically sound and capitalize upon Pact’s worldwide knowledge base • Network with donors to gather intelligence on up-coming funding opportunities • Lead a robust internal community of practice that ensures continuous learning across field offices as well as across all levels of Pact • Work closely with other Technical Directors to ensure integration across sectors and core competencies
Minimum Qualifications: BA and at least 12 years of relevant experience (or equivalent) Ability to travel internationally
Preference for: • Advanced degree • Documented success in raising project funding • Documented thought leadership within the development sector; publication of relevant journal articles or technical reports • Fluent English and proficiency in at least one other language

People Management • High proficiency in supervising staff, including providing honest feedback and meaningful development opportunities • Ability to mentor others and model successful management techniques and approaches
