OPHTHALMOLOGIST – Montego Bay, Jamaica
A rare opportunity now exists for an Ophthalmologist to set up and deliver a program for the abject poor in the Albion region of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Existing facilities and equipment are in place, we are just waiting for YOU!
Cooperating with “Village of Hope” in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and with guidance and assistance from The Brenda Strafford Foundation, based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, you will set up an eye care program aimed at the abject poor, bringing a measure of hope to people whose outlook seems hopeless.
Essential Skills/Credentials: • Prepared to make a long term commitment to the project. • Successful completion of medical training with post graduate specialty in Ophthalmology, and residency in an approved Ophthalmology program. • Eligible for certification to practice in Jamaica. • Highly focused team player that is passionate about serving the poor. • Prior experience living and working in a developing country an asset.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases and injuries of the eye. • Schedule and perform local anesthesia and operations. • Prescribe various ocular and systemic medications. • Seek out and develop strategic relationships with other charitable organizations.
