Students of (forced) migration, human rights, sociology, or other such disciplines within the social sciences are invited to apply for a position on UNIAP’s intern research team. Candidates will be part of a group of outstanding students who will engage in rigorous qualitative and quantitative research on human trafficking, forced migration and labor exploitation in the Greater Mekong Sub-region(GMS). They will also be given the opportunity to undertake individual research activities under the guidance of the technical team and the regional research officer.
The research intern team will be based at UNIAP’s Bangkok headquarters and will work in the regional office and in the field to:
• Support UNIAP and its government and non-government partners to better understand and improve responses to human trafficking in the GMS by conducting desk based research, mapping activities, field data collection, and critical analyses of existing situations and emerging trends.
• Conduct independent research on a topic of interest to the intern and UNIAP’s technical team in order to advance regional understanding of human trafficking, its causes and consequences.
• Gain experience in, exposure to, and training on, anti-human trafficking in the GMS as part of UNIAP’s ongoing initiative to build the capacity of young professionals to counter human trafficking predicaments.
• Be currently enrolled at an accredited university and undertaking graduate studies • Possess excellent writing and communications skills • Have strong analytical faculties
• Be trained in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies • Be self motivated and able to work in a demanding environment
