Purpose:
Under the guidance of the Chief, Protection Section you will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes related to strengthen child protection systems through policy, advocacy and institutional reform and design of minimum package of services.
Qualification:
Advanced university degree, preferably in the social sciences, law or other relevant field.* Current knowledge of development and Human Rights issues, policies as well as social programming policies and procedures in international development co-operation. Five years of professional work experience at national and international levels in child protection, including international work experience.
Experience in social protection and human rights especially in the area of law and legislation, birth registration and Juvenile Justice. Proven track record of managing, monitoring and evaluating projects, some of it at international level. Working experience with government would be a strong asset. Fluency in English and a second UN language. Working knowledge of local language (Bangla) an asset.

*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Key Expected Results:
- Coordinates, designs and implements appropriate UNICEF programmes for the realisation of child rights through developing and strengthening child protection systems for protective environment. Work on issues such as alternative care and legal reform, as well as children in need of special protection,.
- Monitors and evaluates project(s) being implemented for promotion children’s protection rights in cooperation with government and other strategic partners. Support in developing IMS on child protection at national level. Analyse and evaluate data to ensure achievement of objectives and take corrective action when necessary to meet project objectives.
- Designs, prepare, implement, monitor and evaluate specific interventions to follow up on concluding observations on CRC as well as periodic reporting in the area of child protection. Monitor the programmes to ensure achievement of objectives.
- Assists in advocating the identified areas of interventions in support children’s and women’s rights with the appropriate ministries of the Government; develop annual workplans with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of these interventions.
- Participates in office task forces; ensure intersectoral collaboration in the assigned work areas and keep abreast of national, regional and global efforts in the areas of activity. Supervise the preparation of documents and follow up the utilisation of all supplies, equipment and cash assistance working with PROMS and other office systems.
- Establishes strategic alliances with NGOs, donors and other partners at the national and regional levels to facilitate implementation of the identified interventions.
- Assists in preparing proposals and negotiating with donors and other multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies for raising funds as required for projects in support of children in need of special protection and for the furtherance of children’s and women’s rights.
- Supervises the preparation of documents and follow up the utilisation of all supplies, equipment and cash assistance implemented for the specific projects.
- Work with other Programme Sections and colleagues in UNICEF in order to bring about a deeper understanding of children’s and women’s rights and to encourage them to incorporate this understanding in their regular work.
