JOB CONTEXT:
HI has been working in South Asia for an extended number of years. The project has duration of 18 months and is expected to be funded by DIPECHO and co-funded by HI. Drawing on HI’s experience in Bangladesh, India and Nepal in the area of Disaster Risk Reduction, this action proposes to develop a regional dynamic throughout 5 countries of the South Asia region: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. In this context we are looking for a Regional Disaster Risk management Project Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Challenges and goals: You will be managed by the Regional Project Coordinator based in Dhaka, and will also be based at the project office in Dhaka/Bangladesh. You will coordinate with the programme Technical Coordinators in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka and will technically advice, on inclusive DRM issues all in-country staff, working with the regional project.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to reducing the vulnerability of South Asian populations living in areas most affected by natural disasters, by increasing the awareness and the response capacities of local communities to potential and frequent natural disasters and to reduce the effects on the most vulnerable. The specific objective of the project is for enhanced inclusive community based disaster risk management practices, at community level in South Asia, to serve to advocate at national and regional levels for inclusive disaster risk management. www.globaljobscareer.blogspot.com
Activities: You will be the goal owner of the technical quality of the activities at local, national and regional level. Your responsibilities will be to: 1. Ensure the regional project technical quality 2. Oversee technical implementation of regional DRM activities 3. Coordinate the Overall region on technical aspects
You will carry out frequent missions to the field in Bangladesh, Nepal and India and, to a lesser extent in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, up to 50% of the time on the field.
CANDIDATE PROFILE: This is a possible family position

JOB ENVIRONMENT: The post is based in Dhaka. Bangladesh is a Muslim conservative country, where religious gatherings or political strikes may result at times in violence. The capital is an extremely populated (estimated 14 million people) city, which is very hectic during office time.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Volunteer: 750 or 850 Euros monthly indemnity + living allowance paid on the field + accommodation + 50% of the medical cover taken in charge by HI + repatriation insurance + indemnity for partner and children Salary: between 2150€ and 2300€ gross salary / month + 457 Euros net expatriation allowance + medical cover taken in charge by HI + repatriation insurance + family policy
