JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to supervise workers on a day-to-day or project to project basis in accomplishing the work operations and to perform associated non-supervisory work.

Incentives may be available.  Payment of such incentives  will be made IAW current Alaska HRO Policy.  Incentives are subject to funding availability, superior qualifications as determined by selecting supervisors, quality/recency of experience, and pool of qualified candidates.

Plans and schedules specific work assignments. Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains prescribed methods and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures provides assistance on problems. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Suggests ways or methods to improve operations or reduce costs. Recommends individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Assists in the establishment of performance standards and makes recommendations for performance appraisals. Counsels with employees disciplinary issues and recommends disciplinary action. Schedules leave and approves leave for short periods of time. Performs the non-supervisory work in the Fuel Systems Shop as needed. Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

General Experience is experience, education, or training which demonstrates your ability to assist subordinates on unique problems related to design variations, configuration changes, and deviation from standard work practices made to meet established tolerances, prescribed test results, or to achieve systems reliability.

Specialized Experience is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. 

To qualify for this position as WS-09, you must have at least 36 months of Specialized Experience directly related to the following:

--Ability to plan and organize the work of pneumatic and repair functions.
--Ability to review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.
--Knowledge of various lines of work performed by the repair function and associated support organizations.
--Ability to deal effectively with other people.
--Ability to supervise through subordinate supervisors or the potential to perform non-supervisory duties in the Fuel Systems Shop.
--Ability to communicate and skill in applying human relations techniques.
--Knowledge of general supervisory concepts.
--Knowledge of shop processes and adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations.


APPOINTMENT FACTORS:  Excepted/Enlisted in the Alaska Air National Guard.
MILITARY COMPATIBILITY:  If you are selected for this position, you will be required to become a member of the Alaska Air National Guard and be assigned to a compatible military assignment as enlisted in one of the following AFSCs:  2A6XX, 2A5XX, 2A3XX.
