COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (UNPAID INTERNSHIP) Job Vacancy. 10, MAY 2011

THE INTERNSHIP:
War Child is looking for an exceptional intern to join our Campaigns team. The Communications Officer will support the CEO directly across a variety of projects as War Child develops its marketing to UK audiences and also its campaigning capability. You will work with colleagues across the campaigns, fundraising and programmes teams.
The internship requires a minimum commitment of 6 months. Ideally you would be available for 5 days a week, but we will consider 3/4 days a week. The role is based in War Child’s offices in Kentish Town, London. This is a voluntary position, with a lunch allowance and your travel costs (within Zones 1-6 in London) reimbursed.
If you have excellent communication skills, a proactive and positive attitude, and the ability to contribute creatively to help increase public engagement with this small, dynamic charity and the issues we work on, then we would like to hear from you.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
A) Essential:
EXPERIENCE • Managing your own projects • Working in a team • Using Word, Powerpoint and Excel • Living and working in the UK KNOWLEDGE • Confidence to critique research methodology SKILLS • Confidence to work independently • Capable of working effectively with limited supervision • Excellent written communication; ability to tailor language used to a variety of audiences. • Excellent verbal communication with people from a range of hierarchy levels • Confidence analysing and interpreting research reports
B) Desirable:
EXPERIENCE • Involvement in a communication/marketing/research project • Working in an office environment KNOWLEDGE • Basic understanding of PR principles • Basic understanding of charities SKILLS • Experience with desktop publishing or Photoshop • Basic video editing
