Engine Trend Monitoring & Configuration Engineer

For our client, a leading aircraft MRO company, we are looking for an Engine Trend Monitoring & Configuration Engineer. This is a permanent position in the Metro Vancouver area.

Responsibilities:
In general, the position of Engine Trend Monitoring and Configuration Engineer is responsible for the ETM system setup, evaluation and interpretation of engine operating data gathered from in-Flight Operations. Typical duties include daily reviews of the operating fleet and addressing any alarms that may occur through an established communication chain and protocol.


• Update ETM program with all engine installation changes in a timely manner to ensure correct trend data is maintained for each aircraft engine position
• Configure/customize ETM alarms for specific fleet consistent with customer needs and expectations
• Review active fleet trending with particular attention to analysis of all alarms activated since last review
• Identify alarms that require deeper analysis and liaise with type specific power plant engineer as necessary
• Notify customer of trend shift when deemed necessary through established communication protocol
• Determine if on-wing maintenance actions have occurred resulting in the perceived trend shift (i.e. component replacement or adjustment)
• Recommend on-wing maintenance action related to trend shift (i.e. visual inspection of engine external hardware or bore scope inspection of internal hardware) in order to identify the source of the shift
• Maintain a "watch list" of engines that are operating within parameters that have or continue to deteriorate (negative trend)
• Establish and maintain ETM reporting that can be provided periodically to the customer
• Write/Update ETM Procedures Manual
• Train engineering colleagues to a level adequate to take over basic responsibilities when ETM & Configuration Engineer is absent (i.e. vacation coverage)
• Provide technical support, assistance and guidance on ETM questions from the customer for troubleshooting on-wing engine problems

Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree or equivalent education in engineering or in a related area, preferable with 3-4 years experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines) in a repair or maintenance environment
• Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Operation System Windows XP/7, MS Office 2003/2007 and SAP MM
• Functional knowledge of GE SAGE program or equivalent
• Advanced ability to think analytically and problem solving skills
• Advanced ability to organize and coordinate
• Excellent ability to read and understand technical complexities as well as to simplify complex issues
• Advanced ability to adapt to current and new situations
• Willingness to learn and being quick on the uptake of new information/situations
• Accurateness in his/her work results
• Advanced ability to think and act practically and to work independently
• High reliability in his/her work
