Coordinator, New Business Development

PSI seeks applicants for the position of Coordinator for New Business Development (NBD). This position will be based in Washington, D.C., and will report to the NBD Deputy Director.
Resonsibilities:
The Coordinator for NBD will manage PSI's systems for identifying, tracking, and pursuing new business opportunities with government and private sector donors. H/she will assist, and in some cases lead, in proposal and budget development and will manage institutional knowledge for the New Business Development department. Other responsibilities will include:
  • New Donor Prospecting: The NBD Coordinator will assist New Business staff in developing fundraising strategies and preparing background research on prospective donors

  • Opportunity Management: The NBD Coordinator will manage and oversee tracking of all funding opportunities for PSI and alert country staff to requests for proposals and all relevant deadlines. Using Salesforce, the Coordinator will also manage the opportunity pipeline as well as the contact management database.

  • Proposal Development: The NBD Coordinator will assist NBD staff with proposal and report writing (technical and cost components), coordinate all administrative components of proposals, and develop relevant charts, tables and graphics. The Coordinator will also lead proposal development efforts as assigned, and will be responsible for managing NBD's engagement with at least one needy country.

  • Technical and Regional Liaison: The NBD Coordinator will serve as the NBD point person for a regional and technical department ensuring that the appropriate assistance is provided to each of these departments in their fundraising efforts. This will also require ongoing updating of technical skills relevant to the technical department to which the Coordinator is assigned.

  • Knowledge Management: Maintain and regularly update NBD's internal wiki page, ensuring that it is user-friendly and current.

  • Intern Management: The NBD Coordinator will recruit, orient, train and manage the NBD intern and oversee their professional development within the position.

  • General Administration: The New Business Coordinator will oversee management of the department calendar to track all deadlines, draft general donor correspondence, maintain department records and perform other tasks as requested.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required (i.e., Public Health, International Relations, Marketing); Master's degree in public health or similarly related field preferred

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail a must

  • Comfortable working in Excel; experience with budgeting preferred

  • Strong writing skills, with significant experience using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat in an office environment

  • Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal communication skills

  • At least two years experience in an office environment

  • French, Spanish and/or German language skills a plus

  • The position requires the ability to work gracefully under pressure and support the New Business department's efforts in collaboration with PSI managers and partner organizations.
