The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide.
WFP ODIF/FITTEST is in the process of building capacity in its Training Development functions. In this regard, a consultant is required with experience in developing & implementing training courses, and with a high level of understanding of the emergency response context in which WFP operates.
Consultancy Deliverables/Main Tasks:
• The consultant will work on various training development initiatives, including the upgrade and improvement of the existing technical training courses and the development of large scale emergency simulations; • Establish relationships with external partners towards expanding the training development capacity; • Provide input and advice to the trainers and coordinators on good instructional techniques; • Ensure new training methodologies incorporated into training approach; • Assist in setting standards for training design & delivery.
Education Requirements:
University degree in Education, Computer Science or any related field. Professional certification in Training Development or Adult Education is required in the absence of a Degree in Education.
Language Requirements: Proficiency in English language. Intermediate knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian or Chinese) or Portuguese as a WFP working language is desirable.
Experience & Additional Criteria for selection:
• Working experience in training development preferably within the Humanitarian Field, UN agencies and NGO’s. • Proven expertise in Training Needs Analysis, Training Management including: training design, delivery and evaluation. • Customer-focused consulting experience. • Strong knowledge in both classroom and outdoor practical instruction techniques. • Experience in field exercise design & development. • Knowledge in Emergency Management and Disaster Response, or alternatively in the Information Technology and/or Telecommunication sector. • Ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.
Type of Contract: International Consultancy. Contract Duration: Eight months - Starting end of January 2012 with possible extension to a maximum of 11 months. Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates - With possible travel to several locations.
